Hemp Based CBD Oil

There’s a new product gaining popularity across the country: CBD oil. Bremo Pharmacy will help you dispel some of the myths surrounding CBD oil and help you learn more about this product.

Myths Surrounding CBD Oil:

  • Myth #1: CBD oil is marijuana.
CBD oil can come from both hemp and marijuana plants, but choosing hemp-derived CBD oil offers some differences in the final product.
Cannabis sativa is a plant family that includes both hemp and marijuana. However, hemp and marijuana have some distinct differences. Hemp contains higher amounts of cannabidiol (CBD) and very low amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the chemical in marijuana that makes people feel “high.” Hemp-derived CBD oil cannot make someone feel “high” because it does not contain large amounts of THC.
  • Myth #2
    All CBD oil is illegal
Hemp-derived CBD oil is legal in all 50 states because it contains less than 0.3% THC. This was confirmed through the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill.
  • Myth #3
    All hemp oil contains CBD
Products made from hemp seed typically contain no CBD. CBD content decreases as you go from the top of the plant to the bottom. The most CBD is found in the flower and leaves of the plant, the least is found in the stem and seeds. Make sure you choose a product that has ingredients from the right parts of the plant.. It is also important to choose brands of CBD that can provide a Certificate of Analysis, as supplements are not regulated in the same way medications are. There have been many companies that advertise CBD oil at certain strengths, while chemical analysis shows no CBD was found in the product.

How Can I Use CBD Oil?

CBD acts in the body on the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is located throughout the entire body. We have our own natural cannabinoids in our body that work in this system. However, plant-based cannabinoids such as THC and CBD can also influence this system. This system plays a role in many parts of the human body. As a result, CBD oil can influence a variety of conditions.

CBD is used in these conditions just like you would use Vitamin D and calcium to help your bones, or Vitamin C to help your immune system. Just like any other supplement, CBD may or may not be beneficial for you and could have interactions with your medications. For this reason, make sure you discuss using this product with your healthcare professionals and always let your doctors know what you are taking. Bremo pharmacists are here as a resource for you as you navigate your decision regarding if this product is right for you.
