Ways to Safeguard Against the Zika Virus

The Asian Tiger Mosquito is the mosquito that can transmit the Zika Virus. They only breed in standing water in man-made containers and live throughout Virginia. These mosquitos bite during the day. Weekly, through the months of May-October, it is recommended to empty water out of birdbaths, drains, flower pots/trays, tarps, trash cans, watering cans and any other man-made container that holds water. This handout and check list informs you about safeguarding your home and work place from the breeding sites of the Asian Tiger Mosquito. There you will also find additional information about safeguarding yourself from mosquito bites.

These handouts are also available at Bremo Pharmacy, 2024 Staples Mill Rd, Richmond, VA 23230
